Good product, but too many flaws

Received the monitor yesterday and used it overnight. So far, I have a few opinions.
1. The angle of the video is too narrow. We placed it on a shelf in the corner of the room, and its field of view is really small for my taste.
2. The sound is either off, or loud, or louder. Our old sound only monitor had a dial where you could set the sound as low or loud as you want. At night we like to keep it quiet enough to just hear our daughter, but with this monitor, there is not enough control of the sound. Sleeping with it next to us was a pain.
3. The remote beeping everytime you click an option on the menu us annoying and there is no way to turn that off.
I am neither pleased or dissatisfied with the monitor yet, although, I am having some buyers remorse with the price I payed. I'll give it a few more days, but otherwise, I am returning it.

Good Monitor, But Kills WiFi Networks
»
The monitor itself seems to work mostly as advertised with one big exception: it takes down my wireless network (2.4Ghz, 802.11b/g/n) when it operates. This is totally unacceptable for a product that specifically calls out that it doesn't interfere with WiFi networks on the 2.4Ghz frequency due to their special technology. Apparently it's not quite that special.
I wish this wasn't the case, because it's otherwise a great monitor other than the beeps it makes turning on and off and the lack of a cycle function for multiple cameras. The interferences issue makes it virtually unusable and not as advertised.

Excellent monitor with a few 'fixable' minor annoyances

Love this monitor, it works great. Here's my thoughts on some of the typical issues listed in other reviews which I saw prior to purchasing:
- Blinking light on camera annoying
- Splash screen "safety first" annoying
- Range
- Display slow, displaying 'artifacts'
- Monitor 'failing' by going white and not displaying a picture.
I've had this monitor for 4 months so here's my opinion on these issues.
- Blinking Light - Put a piece of electrical tape over the light, isn't pretty but very minor issue, wouldn't not buy this because of the darn light.
- Splash screen - It displays for about 1 second, again, wouldn't not buy this because if it, I don't even think it's annoying actually.
- Range is EXCELLENT. I live on 5 acres, I took it to my neighbors house and can get image/sound just great. very very impressed by the range.
- Display slow... when it is far away, yes, it get's choppy; when I'm in my house it looks excellent. THIS IS A BABY MONITOR, not a video camera, works great for its intended purpose.
- After 4 months my wife dropped the camera in the crib and the monitor went solid white. If you bump it you get a partial picture back. After some 'research' I found that the monitor is connected by a ribbon cable to the circuit board and the cable popped out, I opened the unit (4 small screws) and reseated the cable which fixed the problem. It's very deicate to disassemble and I'm quite confident this void's the warranty so I wouldn't recommend it but I didn't want to send it back and be without it as I don't know what I would do without the monitor so I fixed it instead.
That's the only issue we've had with it. Otherwise we love it and I would give this a 5 star.

great monitor still a bit pricey
»
My primary monitor is the summer infant video monitor. While i have no interference at home (in nyc, shocker) when we travel we find that we get some interference at various places. The worst in Florida. I went out and bought this monitor and there is no interference and it has a better range then any of the other monitors. I temporarily was using the graco audio monitor which was good as well but the range was not as good as the safety 1st. It is also a nice feature that both units can operate on batteries. I am posting this after one night of use but incase anyone is shopping for the holiday i figured i would post. While it is the most expensive monitor it is pretty cool and works well.

Best product of the market for the money
»
It's packaged well. It has an easy setup. The directions for use are simple and it is easy to use. The daytime video picture is really clear and the night time video works a lot better than I had expected. I really like the zoom feature. I like the green button that flashes on the monitor once it is turned on because its easy to tell if you have the monitor on or off. The safety first that comes on when I want to view video only lasts a second so I really don't feel that it's an issue. I love the fact that it's a secure signal and I'm not seeing into another house. There is no interference whatsoever, I was really surprised on how clear the signal is. I really feel that this monitor is the best product on the market for the money right now. I really like it.
